Cornelis (Kees) Storm received his B.A. and Ph.D degrees in theoretical physics from Leiden University in the Netherlands, and did postdocs at the University of Pennsylvania, the Institut Curie in Paris, and the Free University of Amsterdam before joining the faculty at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands where he is now professor and chair of the Soft Matter and Biological Physics research group. Kees has a background in polymer and soft matter physics, cell mechanics and motility, and joins the Brangwynne lab on sabbatical leave hoping to learn more about the role of visco-elastic mechanics in intracellular phase separation, and its effect on the dynamics of assembly and disassembly of biological condensates. Outside of work, Kees enjoys cooking, eating, ‘music’ from the 1980s, and distance running.
