Jessica (Zhiyue) Zhao grew up in Shenzhen, China and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with a focus in biomolecular engineering. Prior to her life on the east coast, her work as an undergraduate researcher in the lab of Prof. Yi Tang involved in vivo reconstitution of silent fungal secondary metabolites biosynthetic pathway and kinetics investigation of the core biosynthetic enzyme polyketide synthase. In the Brangwynne lab, she is interested in using condensates for manipulating the genome, as well as understanding how endogenous nuclear condensates affects cellular machinery in maintaining genome integrity. Outside of lab, she enjoys spontaneous trips to New York City for “grocery shopping”, listening to podcast and watching movies.
