Kevin grew up in Beijing, China and received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. To survive the harsh Wisconsin winter, he spent most of his free time engineering E. coli for the production of oleochemicals from renewable feed-stocks in the lab of Dr. Brian Pfleger. As a PhD student, Kevin is interested in engineering multi-phase synthetic organelle systems. He is co-advised by Dr. Jose Avalos.
Outside of lab, he likes fencing, skiing, and enjoying good food. He also enjoys experimenting with different methods to cook steak and make fried chicken
